Our 5000 gal pond averages 40" deep. The 4600 gph pump draws from a bottm drain and savio skimmer. It then pumps to a bead filter, thru two 40 watt UV lights to an up-flow barrell of 200 litres of aerated Kaldnes media. From there the water gravity flows thru a home-made filter box containing an assortment of mat media;to an 18" waterfall; along 12 feet of gravel stream to a final 12" waterfall back into the pond.

We love our koi. Our favorite is a 26" sanke that was already an adult when we purchased her in 1996.
